EV Charging for Hospitals & Healthcare

Staff. Visitors. Fleet. One Stack.

EV chargers for hospitals, planned around the reliability and electrical-safety bar of a healthcare facility. Type 2 AC chargers from 3.3 kW to 22 kW, on circuits kept separate from critical loads, with OCPP 1.6J / 2.0.1 and per-session metering. Designed and manufactured in India.

Why hospitals are deploying EV charging

Four drivers that go beyond sustainability PR.

Staff Retention Benefit

More medical staff now drive EVs. Offering on-site charging (especially for night-shift staff) is a tangible, low-cost workplace perk.

Visitor Amenity

Hospital visits often mean long stays in the car park — a natural fit for AC charging. Chargers near the main entrance become a wayfinding and goodwill amenity.

Fleet EV Readiness

As hospital fleet vehicles move to EV, hospitals need dedicated charging circuits planned so they don't compete with critical loads.

Electrical Safety & Resilience

Hospitals have strict safety requirements. EV circuits must be isolated from critical-load circuits, surge-protected, and designed to not interfere with medical equipment.

Charging zones for healthcare facilities

Each zone has distinct use cases, power needs, and access rules.

Main Entrance / Visitor Parking

2–6 × 11 kW or 22 kW Type 2 chargers. Per-session billing through an OCPP charging management system, or free charging validated at reception. Prominent signage and wayfinding.

Staff Parking

4–12 × 7.4 kW or 11 kW Type 2 chargers with RFID access (staff-only). Each session is metered, so the hospital can recover charging costs from staff if it chooses.

Hospital Fleet Bay

1–2 × 22 kW Type 2 AC chargers on a dedicated circuit for hospital-owned EVs. Our range is AC only; if a vehicle needs DC fast charging, pair our AC chargers with a specialist DC supplier.

Doctor On-Call Parking

2–4 × 11 kW chargers in reserved, RFID-access bays, so on-call doctors can charge between shifts.

Safety-first planning for healthcare environments

A hospital EV charging scheme should keep EV circuits separate from critical medical equipment circuits, use suitable RCD protection and surge protection, and stay off the UPS and DG-backed buses. Our chargers are designed to IEC 61851-1 with ground-fault detection and surge protection built in. Your electrical consultant designs the site circuits and signs off the SLD; we supply the charger data they need and support commissioning.

For the charging metering side — critical for revenue-sharing with a CPO partner or for internal cost allocation between staff and visitor usage — pair the chargers with Titan EV charging metering on the upstream AC circuit.

Frequently asked questions

Six questions hospital facility directors ask before approving an EV charging installation.

11–22 kW Type 2 AC chargers for visitor parking (most Indian EVs accept 7.2–11 kW AC, so a car charges only as fast as its onboard charger allows), and 7.4 kW or 11 kW for staff parking (overnight or shift charging). Tech OVN makes AC chargers only; DC fast chargers are rarely needed in general visitor parking.
EV charging circuits should be kept separate from critical medical equipment circuits, protected by a suitable RCD (Type B, or Type A where the charger itself provides 6 mA DC fault detection) and surge-protected against lightning. Tech OVN chargers are designed to IEC 61851-1 and include ground-fault detection, surge protection and over/under-voltage protection; the site-side RCD and MCB selection is done by your electrical consultant.
Yes, if the supply is sized for it. Put fleet chargers on their own dedicated circuit with capacity for all chargers running together. Our chargers do not do load balancing or priority switching between chargers, so plan the circuit capacity rather than relying on the charger to manage it. Tech OVN makes AC chargers only.
Three common models: (a) bundled into the parking fee (simplest); (b) per-session billing through an OCPP charging management system or CPO app; (c) free charging validated at reception. Tech OVN chargers meter every session and support OCPP 1.6J and 2.0.1, so any of the three can be run from your chosen platform.
Plan the EV circuits so they are not on the DG-backed or UPS-backed bus — you rarely want to burn diesel to charge cars. Titan meters on the solar, grid, DG and EV feeders show how much charging happens in solar hours and confirm the EV circuits stay off the genset. Titan also has a relay output that can drive an external contactor or alarm; Titan doesn't decide what to shed — you choose and wire the load.
Catalogue chargers ship from stock for regular orders; orders of 200 units or more take about 4 weeks. The electrical works are done by your contractor (often during planned maintenance windows), and we support commissioning and the OCPP integration with your chosen charging management system.

Beyond EV: critical-load & compliance

Hospitals run complex electrical environments — OTs, ICUs, imaging, sterilisation, lifts, HVAC, and lighting on a mix of utility + DG + UPS. Sub-metering each critical load with Titan gives you real-time visibility into UPS loading, transformer loading, and DG test runs. Titan Compliance on the fire-pump feed logs pump test runs automatically, giving you a ready record for fire and accreditation inspections. And for the chilled-water plant serving the OT complex, Titan Plus BTU gives continuous COP, so you can see a chiller's efficiency falling and plan maintenance before it becomes a problem.
