EV Chargers for Malls & Shopping Centres

Every Shop Visit, a Full Charge.

EV charger for mall parking across India — 22 kW Type 2 AC chargers, OCPP-compliant for any CPO or loyalty platform, with dynamic load balancing and NBC-2016-compliant install. Convert mall dwell time into a premium customer amenity and a new revenue stream.

Why malls are rolling out EV charging

Four commercial reasons beyond the sustainability headlines.

Dwell Time = Charge Time

Mall visitors stay 2–4 hours — exactly the right window for a full AC charge. EV chargers in mall parking convert idle time into revenue-generating footfall.

Footfall-Linked Revenue

Charging sessions are a direct lead capture: driver data, dwell time, repeat visits. Integrate with loyalty programmes for free-after-spend promotions.

Load Balancing Across Bays

20+ chargers in one parking lot can overload the DB. Our smart chargers dynamically share available current across bays, sized once for the expected utilisation ratio.

CPO-Partnership Model

Many mall operators prefer to let a charge point operator (CPO) run the chargers and share revenue. Our chargers work with every major Indian CPO platform.

Deployment by parking type

Each zone of a mall has different constraints. Start simple — covered anchor-tenant bays — and expand based on utilisation data.

Anchor Tenant Parking

Reserve 4–8 EV-capable bays near high-traffic anchors (grocery, cinema, food court). 22 kW Type 2 chargers, covered parking preferred.

Basement Parking

Ventilation is critical. Install 7.4 kW or 11 kW chargers (lower thermal load) and comply with NBC 2016 fire & ventilation norms.

Rooftop / Open Lot

Full 22 kW deployment possible. Weather-sealed IP55 enclosures, surge protection for direct sun + monsoon exposure.

Valet-Operated Fast Lane

1–2 DC fast chargers (30–60 kW) at the valet stand for top-up convenience. High-turnover stall; guest pays premium for speed.

Turnkey install, revenue-grade billing

Tech OVN delivers end-to-end: site survey, SLD, DB work, bay marking, signage, charger commissioning, OCPP integration with your chosen CPO (or our own platform), and staff training. We install across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Tier-2 cities through our partner network.

Every charger ships with a built-in Class 1 energy meter — and for revenue-grade kWh billing (required for audit trails or CPO revenue sharing), upstream Titan EV charging metering provides Class 0.5S accuracy on the supply circuit.

Frequently asked questions

Six questions mall operators and facility managers ask before rolling out EV charging.

Start with 4–8 bays as EV-capable for a mid-sized mall (100–300 shops), scaling to 16–32 for large malls. Target 2–5% of total parking as EV-capable initially, with a 1:3 working-to-capable ratio. Overprovisioning conduits during the initial electrical work is cheaper than retrofit later.
22 kW Type 2 AC chargers are the sweet spot for mall parking — they deliver 80–100 km of range per hour of shopping, match average dwell time, and are far cheaper than DC fast chargers. Add 1–2 DC fast chargers (30–60 kW) near the valet stand for high-turnover top-ups.
Three models: (a) Free with parking above ₹X minimum spend (loyalty-linked); (b) Per-session paid via mall app or OCPP CPO app; (c) Flat rate per hour. Most malls combine (a) + (b) — bundled for loyalty members, pay-per-use for walk-ins.
Yes. Tech OVN chargers are OCPP 1.6J and OCPP 2.0.1 compliant — they work with every major Indian CPO platform (ChargeZone, Statiq, Tata Power EZ Charge, BOLT, Numocity, Kazam, and others). You can also operate them directly via our own platform if you don't want to involve a CPO.
Indian NBC 2016 applies. Key requirements: minimum 6 ACH ventilation in the charging zone, fire detection + suppression (either CO₂ or clean agent), signage, and grounded metallic conduits. We handle compliance-ready BOQ as part of the turnkey install.
State-level. Delhi offers ₹6,000/AC charger under its EV policy. Maharashtra waives demand charges on dedicated EV circuits. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu offer capex subsidies and concessional electricity tariffs. See our state-wise EV policy guides for specifics.
