Sizing guide by hotel type

A right-sized deployment depends on guest mix, parking count, and grid connection. Typical starting points below.

Budget Hotels (up to 40 rooms)

1–2 × 3.3 kW Single Socket chargers. Good for overnight guest charging. Simple wall-mount install, 1-day deployment.

Mid-market Hotels (40–150 rooms)

2–4 × 7.4 kW or 11 kW Type 2 chargers in the guest parking area. One DC fast charger (retrofit) for high-turnover drivers.

Luxury / Resort Hotels (150+ rooms)

4–8 × 22 kW Type 2 chargers, ideally with load balancing. Valet-operated fast charger at porte-cochere. Integration with hotel app for advance booking.

Highway Resorts & Dhabas

2–4 × 22 kW Type 2 chargers + 1 × 30–60 kW DC fast charger. Critical for road-trip EV adoption; often qualifies for FAME II / state highway subsidies.

For most hotels, 7.4 kW or 22 kW Type 2 AC chargers strike the right balance — guests charge overnight without pulling peak kitchen/HVAC demand, and you avoid the capex of DC fast chargers. Reserve DC fast charging for highway resorts or luxury properties where turn-over matters.
Start with 5–10% of your parking spaces as EV-capable, with an installed-to-capable ratio of about 1:3 (one working charger for every three EV-capable bays). Most Indian hotels today oversubscribe 2 × 22 kW chargers — a common regret is installing too few.
Two approaches: (a) bundle into the room tariff as a complimentary amenity (most budget/mid-market hotels), or (b) meter each session and post to the folio via OCPP + PMS integration (most luxury hotels). Option (b) requires a charger with OCPP 1.6J/2.0.1 support — all Tech OVN chargers include this.
Yes. Tech OVN chargers run in standalone mode if connectivity drops — guests can still start sessions via RFID or charger-side button. Billing and session data sync automatically when connectivity returns.
