EV Charging for Hospitals & Healthcare

Staff. Visitors. Ambulances. One Stack.

Hospital charging station installation that meets the reliability and electrical-safety bar of a healthcare facility. 22 kW AC and DC fast chargers, segregated from critical-load circuits, with priority routing for ambulance EV readiness. Designed and manufactured in Haryana.

Why hospitals are deploying EV charging

Four drivers that go beyond sustainability PR.

Staff Retention Benefit

Medical staff increasingly drive EVs. Offering on-site charging (especially for night-shift staff) is a tangible retention perk at minimal cost per hire.

Visitor Amenity

Hospital visits often mean 2–6 hour dwell times — a natural fit for AC charging. Chargers near the main entrance become a wayfinding and goodwill amenity.

Ambulance EV Readiness

As ambulance fleets transition to EV (several state governments are piloting this), hospitals need guaranteed-charge infrastructure that doesn't compete with non-critical loads.

Electrical Safety & Resilience

Hospitals have strict safety requirements. EV circuits must be isolated from critical-load circuits, surge-protected, and designed to not interfere with medical equipment.

Charging zones for healthcare facilities

Each zone has distinct use cases, power needs, and access rules.

Main Entrance / Visitor Parking

2–6 × 22 kW Type 2 chargers. OCPP billing or validation via hospital app. Prominent signage and wayfinding.

Staff Parking

4–12 × 7.4 kW or 11 kW Type 2 chargers with RFID access (staff-only). Optional payroll-integrated billing (₹/kWh deducted from salary).

Emergency / Ambulance Bay

1–2 × 22 kW or 30 kW DC fast chargers on a dedicated circuit, with UPS or genset backup for essential operations.

Doctor On-Call Parking

2–4 × 11 kW chargers with reservation via staff app. Guarantees charged vehicle when called in urgently.

Safety-first install for healthcare environments

We design hospital EV charging installations with isolation between EV circuits and critical medical equipment circuits, Type A/B RCCB protection per IEC 61851-1, low-harmonic front ends to avoid interference, surge protection, and UPS/genset integration for priority ambulance use cases. Every Tech OVN install includes an SLD review signed off by a certified electrical engineer before commissioning.

For the charging metering side — critical for revenue-sharing with a CPO partner or for internal cost allocation between staff and visitor usage — pair the chargers with Titan EV charging metering on the upstream AC circuit.

Frequently asked questions

Six questions hospital facility directors ask before approving an EV charging installation.

22 kW Type 2 AC chargers for visitor parking (match dwell time), 7.4 kW or 11 kW for staff parking (overnight/shift charging), and 1–2 DC fast chargers (30 kW+) for ambulance or on-call doctor use. Avoid fast chargers in general visitor parking — they're overkill and expensive.
EV charging circuits must be isolated from critical medical equipment circuits, Type A or Type B RCCB-protected, surge-protected against lightning, and designed to avoid harmonic injection into the hospital grid. All Tech OVN chargers include IEC 61851-1 safety certification, integrated RCCB, and low-harmonic input design.
Yes, if designed correctly. Dedicate 1–2 DC fast chargers on a separate circuit with priority-routing (the charger disconnects non-essential AC chargers if emergency DC demand arrives). Our controllers support this priority logic natively.
Three common models: (a) bundled into parking fee (simplest, often chosen); (b) per-session billing via OCPP-compatible CPO app; (c) validated/free with a hospital receipt. Tech OVN chargers support all three.
Our Energy Intelligence Platform handles multi-source scheduling: prioritise solar-surplus hours for EV charging, throttle EV during DG-run events (you never want to burn diesel for EV charging), and ensure critical-load circuits stay unaffected. Same Titan meter stack you'd use for energy monitoring.
6–10 weeks typical for a 10–30 charger deployment, including site survey, electrical works (often done during planned maintenance windows), compliance checks, commissioning, and staff training. We've done installs at hospitals across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
